ATLANTA, GA — Today, Christian conservative businessman Brad Raffensperger reaffirmed his unwavering opposition to casino gambling and any expansion of legalized gambling in the state of Georgia, drawing a sharp contrast with opponents in both parties who are publicly embracing it.
“While my opponents are lining up with special interests – and in one case, even their own family business – I refuse to support any effort to expand gambling in Georgia,” said Raffensperger. “Whether it’s casinos, sports betting, or predatory slot machines, the answer is the same: no.”
Raffensperger emphasized that his position is rooted in his faith and personal experience.
“Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 13:11 that ‘wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.’ And in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, we are told plainly: ‘If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.’ Georgia’s future should be built on hard work, not false promises and government-sponsored gambling.”
Recent proposals from Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms to fund education through casino revenue, along with support for sports betting from Republican Rick Jackson and longstanding ties to gaming machines from Lt. Governor Burt Jones, highlight how unique Raffensperger’s position is in the current field.
“Let’s be very clear: casino gambling doesn’t build strong communities; it preys on them. Gambling undermines families, drains household incomes, and replaces real economic growth with a dependency on Georgians losing,” Raffensperger said.
Raffensperger also warned that the stakes go far beyond gambling policy alone.
“But what would be even worse for Georgia than casinos is the prospect of Keisha Lance Bottoms as governor. She failed Atlanta as Mayor, allowing chaos, crime, and radical activism to flourish. There’s no doubt she would bring those same failed policies statewide.
“As governor, Bottoms would trade decades of economic success for a woke agenda that kills opportunity, drives away jobs, and weakens public safety.”
Raffensperger pointed to his record of standing firm under pressure and delivering results for Georgians.
“I’ve stood up to national pressure, political attacks, and special interests. As the Republican nominee, I will defeat Keisha Lance Bottoms, just like we defeated Stacey Abrams, and I will keep Georgia moving in the right direction.”
