AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger called on Democrats to support a clean continuing resolution to avoid a federal shutdown during a visit to Augusta Thursday.
“This thing’s really easy to settle. The Democrats just need to go ahead and sign an agreement that they’re going to sign on that clean continuing resolution,” Raffensperger said. “That CR is right there. It’s a clean bill. All they have to do is get come vote for it and everyone will get you back to business next week. But they just want to play politics with it.”
Raffensperger is among the candidates in what’s being described as one of the most-watched elections heading into the midterms for Georgia’s governor’s mansion. He discussed what sets him apart from his competitors.
“My message is I’m running for governor to make sure that Georgia remains affordable, create great-paying jobs, and then also we keep our community safe, schools safe. Those are the top two issues, but I’m also a business creator. And as your next governor, what I’m going to be focused on every day is creating great-paying jobs for Georgians,” said Raffensperger.
